The Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance requires that owners of most homes in the city of Austin have an energy audit performed on the property before the sale of the home.  One of the certified ECAD auditors at Bumblebee Energy Solutions will perform the services required to fulfill the ECAD ordinance.  These services include:

• Inspecting and measuring attic insulation 

• Pressure testing the home's duct system and assessing its condition and adequacy

• Inspecting weather stripping around exterior doors, plumbing penetrations beneath sinks, and air tightness of attic entries

For homes with one HVAC system, the price for an ECAD audit is $0.11 per square foot with a minimum price of $179.  A $75 charge applies for each additional HVAC system.

After an audit, Bumblebee Energy Solutions will provide the homeowner and Austin Energy with an audit report which includes the following information:

• Estimated R-value of the attic insulation

• Percentage of air leakage from the duct system and the system's general condition

• Air leakage around exterior doors, plumbing penetrations beneath sinks, and attic entries
